What is the best job-search advice?

Written by

This isn’t a simplistic question, as others have eluded to in their responses.

Searching for a job, any job, is a job in itself. To be successful, you need to understand the processes involved.

Preparation may very well be the key to your success.

Your question asks specifically about job searching. Searching is likely the easiest part of the process. Jobs are posted on-line, they are posted on the companies/organization’s website, word of mouth and many other ways.

The real challenge comes after you have located a job that you feel you are qualified to take on.

This is where your preparation can pay off. You need to understand how to create a resume. Yes, despite what some may say, most of the working world still requires them as part of the job application process.

Your resume should resonate with your Linkedin profile.

Then there is being prepared for the interview. In some cases, getting to the interview stage is like winning a lottery. I’ve heard of jobs where a thousand people have applied for one job. To be successful in an interview you need to be able to talk about the skills that you bring to the job and why you would be the best candidate.

In my book & on-line course, You’re Hired! Job Search Strategies That WorkYou’re Hired! Job Search Strategies That Work, I provide ‘best practices’ to land your dream job. I outline a systematic approach to searching for a job, envisioning your success and a set of strategies that can increase your chances of success in not only finding a job, but landing it.

Good luck in your job search!
