While I was still working, I had a side gig on the go of writing and self-publishing personal/professional self-development books and had several manuscripts in various stages of completion. Upon retiring, I hunkered down and revised and republished Protect Yourself Now! Violence Prevention for Healthcare Workers based on my years of experience working in the challenging field of psychiatry/mental health.
Then I completed and self-published Blow Your Own Horn! Personal Branding for Business Professionals, a book that evolved from my Power Networking for Shy People: How to Network Like a Pro and my Your Hired! Job Search Strategies that Work books.
Next in line came Working with Words: Adding Life to Your Oral Presentations, based on my many years within Toastmasters.
Shortly after that came Make it Safe! A Family Caregiver's Home Safety Assessment Guide for Supporting Elders@Home and its companion workbook. This book evolved from a workshop session I had developed for a local safety focused organization on providing support for elders living at home and a resource for their caregivers.
The COVID 19 pandemic put the brakes on the live presentation of the workshop due to social distancing protocols.

Not one to rest for long, I started a freelance business on Upwork in July 2020 offering a 12 – week self-publishing/self-marketing coaching/mentoring program for an author living in Uganda. He has a series of holistic nutritional self-help books that he had written and was self-publishing and marketing.
My freelancing gigs have grown from there where I have formatted and published a book entitled Gratitude on the Go: The ABCs of Gratitude for Living Joyful Life for a client who wanted a pocketbook to share his motivational thoughts and quotations with his network.
Next, I formatted and published a book entitled The Process: Proven Strategies for Winning at Tennis and Life for a client who is a nine-time National tennis champion in singles and doubles on the senior’ s tour [USA]. In this book he shares sage advice, tips and techniques for teenage tennis players who want to become tennis champions.
Digital freelancing can open up different opportunities. One of them being developing a B2B and a B2C websites for an American client with a specialist in the American healthcare system i.e. Medicare, Obamacare etc. I’m also formatting and publishing his manuscript, working title Retirement Healthcare Secrets: The Definitive Guide to Planning Your Medical Insurance Before You Retire. The title isn’t hyperbole, it really is a definitive guide. I’m becoming quite experienced in the American healthcare system, and. I’m not even American!
I’ve been working with an American psychologist on a couple different projects. As an author of children’s books, she has written Super Bean and Her Big-Girl Dreams and Character Counts -Short Story Adventures of Cj & Dj. These are books for children focused on real life adventures of her grandchildren and family members. I didn’t format or publish these books; however I did help her with marketing them and building her author platform e.g. author bio, book description etc. stop
In contrast to her children’s books, I’ve formatted and published two books for her directed to troubled teens and those adults that want to help them. X Y or Z Which One Should I Be? A Teen Empowerment Program – Teen Workbook & Facilitator’s [Adult] Guide are the results.
In July of this year, I helped a client with maximizing his author platform to promote his book THE ROAD TO SOBRIETY: A Personal Experience where he shares his celebration of 10 years sobriety and how he has achieved it.
In between book marketing and book publishing projects I’ve helped clients with developing their LinkedIn profiles, there are about us website pages and with personal promotion for their business.
I’ve also helped authors develop book descriptions and fine-tune their author bio help market their books.
Whenever I get a chance, I’m working on my own three book series entitled The Successful Self- Publisher Series. As a series title suggests, I’m sharing my experiences both as a self- publisher and a self-marketer for both my own books and for clients. I take a different approach to the subject than others have, in that I promote authors taking a business approach to their authorpreneurship. The first book is focused on writing your book. The second focused on how to self publish. And the third, expands upon self-marketing of your book and your creative products.
Books One and Two are ready for final editing, with the third book being fleshed out when I find the time to do so.
