How can I stop feeding my ego?

Written by

As originally answered on Quora.com ...

This question doesn’t provide a lot of details which explains why the answers are all over the place.

My first question to you would be … “why would you want to?” Have you been told by someone that your ego is too big? Or perhaps you are full of yourself?

Secondly, I would make a statement that feeding your ego is not necessarily a bad thing.

I don’t know what part of the world you are from but for myself, as a North American, we have a culture that encourages development of our egos. Yes, certainly some of have taken it a little too far. Our self-development industry is likely a billion-dollar industry.

Thirdly, perhaps you need to change the diet of what you are feeding your ego. A good way to healthily improve your ego and to do something of value i.e. that helps humanity, is to do some volunteer work.

There are many worthy causes out there that might resonate with you. Helping another person in need, without expectation of compensation, is a great way to distinguish yourself in your community and perhaps profession, as well as healthily feed your ego.

Change your diet. Feed your ego.

Thanks for the question!
