Once Upon a Time it Was Safe to Go to Work ...

The CBC Online news headlineheadline for December 8, 2014 reported “Penticton doctor ‘savagely assaulted’ by psychiatric patient.”

“The doctor is recovering in Kelowna Hospital with severe facial injuries, a broken jaw and other fractures, according to police.”

My empathy and best wishes for a quick recovery go out to the psychiatrist as he is known to me as is the location of the assault. Nobody should be injured in the act of performing their duties.

Have You Made Your New Years Revolution Yet?

Have You Made Your New Years Revolution Yet? by Rae Stonehouse, Okanagan-based Author, Speaker, Speech/Presentations Coach, Power Networker & Toastmaster Extraordinaire.

Have you made your New Year’s Revolution yet? No, that wasn’t a typo, I meant to say revolution rather than resolution.

Making yearly resolutions are a time-honoured tradition where you resolve to make an improvement in your life or to start a healthy practice and/or discontinue an unhealthy one. One’s resolve often tends to weaken as time passes or it seems to in my case.

Revolutions, on the other hand, tend to take a lot more energy and the results are usually larger in scale. I am not recommending that you take an active role in overthrowing our government. Sedition isn’t something that would feature very well on your curriculum vitae.

Dragons are Coming!

Dragons are Coming! by Rae Stonehouse, Okanagan-based Author, Speaker, Speech/Presentations Coach, Power Networker & Toastmaster Extraordinaire.

No, I’m not referring to Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield & his company of dwarves in their latest version of their epic journey to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the family treasures stolen by Smaug, a dragon with a penchant for collecting treasures.

CBC Dragon’s Den, arguably also a collection of dragons with a penchant for collecting treasures, is on the road again with their auditions, looking for local entrepreneurs to pitch and entice a dragon to share their hard-earned treasures with them.

The local auditions [KELOWNA] will be held on Wednesday March 5th at the Kelowna Campus of Okanagan College in their Centre for Learning (E Building) on KLO Road.
